Rothco Steel Shank G.I. Type Combat Boots
The Steel Shank G.I. Type Combat Boots are rugged boots designed to protect the foot from injury and lessen the weight placed on the feet of the wearer.
These boots were manufactured using the Goodyear welt method, considered to be the foremost method in footwear fabrication since its conception in 1869. A strip of leather runs the perimeter of the boot and both the insole and outsole are affixed. This construction guarantees a long lifespan for the boot as it can be resoled many times, adding years and possibly decades to the life of the boot. The Goodyear welt method of production has the added benefit of making the boot waterproof since water has a hard time reaching the insole due to the boots construction.
