The Lafayette Manual Muscle Tester (MMT) is an ergonomic hand-held device designed to quantify muscle strength during clinician-applied resistance testing. It measures peak force and the time required to achieve break, providing reliable and repeatable readings that align with most manual muscle testing protocols. The unit is also effective for identifying smaller variations in strength.
An interactive menu lets the user choose from multiple operating options, including data storage, test times from 1 to 10 seconds, and high or low force threshold settings. Results are displayed clearly on a large LCD screen in both pounds and kilograms to help improve readability and reduce errors. The dual measurement range of 0 to 300 lbs. or 0 to 50 lbs. supports greater sensitivity when needed.
The MMT includes a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, three easy-to-change molded plastic stirrups with pads, and a fully illustrated instruction manual. It can store up to 150 test results with browsing capability. A fully charged battery provides up to 6 hours of continuous use, and the unit automatically shuts off after 5 minutes of inactivity to help conserve power. Optional data transfer software is available separately for Bluetooth communication between the tester and a computer.
