Product Description

Obi 3 is a robotic dining device intended to assist individuals who have difficulty with upper extremity movement, including those living with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, ALS, Parkinson's disease, and other impairments affecting arm and hand control. The system is operated by the user through an accessibility switch, while a caregiver typically handles setup, positioning, power-up, teaching food delivery locations, and cleaning after use. The robotic arm responds to user input and delivers food as directed, helping support an independent dining experience.

This version includes a new premium food grade resin utensil design with mild texture on the utensil tips to help promote sensory feedback and grip. Obi 3 comes with four utensils: small spoon, classic spoon, large spoon, and spork. It also includes a plate, placemat, two buttons, and a charger. The device is appropriate for adults and children, and all foods and liquids are compatible when prepared within the recommended size range. Foods should be cut to no larger than 0.75" x 0.75" x 0.75", with pea- to grape-sized pieces considered ideal for effective capture.

The plate is microwave safe, and the plate, placemat, and spoons are dishwasher safe. Obi can deliver food to a maximum height of 15.3" above the mounting surface and a minimum of 2" below it, with a maximum delivery reach of 16" from the edge of the plate. At least one off-the-shelf accessibility switch is required for operation, and the feeder aid should only be used by someone able to activate a switch such as a Sip and Puff or Buddy Button. Obi is latex-free and natural rubber free.
