Product Overview
Product Summary
The Purdue Pegboard Test is a standardized assessment for measuring hand, finger, and arm dexterity, as well as fingertip coordination. It is used in occupational, educational, and neuropsychological settings to evaluate fine motor performance and related motor skills.
Product Description
Originally developed in the 1940s, the Purdue Pegboard Test has become a standard tool for assessing manipulative dexterity. It measures gross movements of the hands, finger dexterity for both one-handed and two-handed tasks, and fingertip coordination through timed placement and assembly activities. The test is also used to help assess motor deficits in adults and children, and it has applications in neuropsychological evaluation, including support for identifying cerebral lesions and related deficits.
The test board features two parallel rows of 25 holes. Pins, collars, and washers are placed in cups at the top of the board, and the testing process follows standardized timed tasks. The complete kit includes the pegboard, 55 pins, 25 collars, 45 washers, instructions, a pad of scoring sheets, an examiner's manual, and accepted norms. The plastic construction makes the board easy to clean with warm soapy water and a damp cloth, while the snug faceplate helps keep the test components stored securely on the board.
